Farmingdale, NY – EB Industries, LLC, a leading provider of electron beam welding, laser welding and hermetic laser sealing services, has recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary in business. Founded in 1965 by George DeLalio, and now headed by his son Steve DeLalio, EB Industries has continually updated its technology, expanded its physical plant and added new services, but has remained true to its core values. “My father thought we should always strive to exceed customers expectations,” DeLalio stated. “And that the best way to do that was to combine the latest technology with exceptional engineering services. We’ve consistently lived that mission for the past 50 years.”
EB Industries started with a single electron beam welding machine operated around the clock in a 5,000 square-foot facility. “There was a boom in aerospace and electronics, and my dad was here 18 hours a day, always committed to delivering customers parts on time. It was a stressful, yet exciting time,” DeLalio recalled. The company worked with many leading edge manufacturers, supported the Apollo missions, engaged in relay manufacturing, and precision welded millions of military aircraft components.
EB Industries grew, and the company moved into a 16,000 square-foot facility that was custom designed, in Farmingdale. Additional staff was added to meet the expanded capacity of four electron beam welding machines. In 1984, as the medical device and microelectronics fields demanded high-quality work at high production rates, laser welding services were added as well as Hermetic Laser Sealing. Today, EB Industries laser welding services are supported by an array of different lasers covering a power range from 50 to 4,000 watts, as well as environmental control chambers and computer controlled CNC tables for fast, automated production.
In 2000, ahead of many providers in the industry, the company adopted a lean manufacturing methodology, leading to a major reinvention of all processes involved – from RFQ’s to final inspection. “The idea was to deliver the quality we’ve always been known for, but basically be faster and more responsive than our competitors,” said DeLalio, “So we looked at everything we do, figured out ways of speeding things up without cutting corners. We’re really proud of our lead times, and we’ve also expanded the services we can offer.” At the backbone of everything is the company’s quality management system, which allows them to easily meet NADCAP and ISO certifications, as well as any propriety standards. In 2013, EB Industries launched a strategic investment initiative aimed at further expansion of capabilities, including a larger shop floor, more state of the art welding equipment, and a larger workforce, all with the aim of better and still faster customer service.
“For 50 years we’ve been setting the industry standard. And we look forward to serving our loyal customers for the next 50 years.” I look forward to it,” DeLalio enthusiastically stated.
